Silva: The better Wilson plays, the harder it will be to keep him - but we prefer this

Fulham head coach Marco Silva speaking after the Whites' 2-1 win over Tottenham:

"He is enjoying this season. He has the people around him to take care of these types of things, the contract situation.

"Our club is trying to have contact with them as much as we can to try to solve it.

"As you know, I am not hiding myself at all in this moment. The better he is going to play, the fight is going to be bigger. It's clear, but we prefer it this way.

"Of course, when a player goes into the last year of his contract, if he performs so well like Harry is doing, these types of things are going to happen. The reality is that we are not giving up at all.

"We are very pleased with him,he is enjoying life with us as well. Now is the moment for the people around him to take care of his future. And of course, for us as a football club to try to get him with us, if we can, for the next year."

Ballard pens new deal until 2029

Dan Ballard has signed a contract extension at Sunderland, keeping the defender on Wearside until 2029, with the option of another year.

The 26-year-old has been a pillar at the heart of the Black Cats' back line in their successful return to the Premier League, with Saturday's draw at Bournemouth leaving Regis Le Bris' side in 13th place in the table.

Carrick: Out-of-favour Ugarte still has part to play

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick says Manuel Ugarte still has a significant role to play under him.

The midfielder is yet to start under Carrick, and has clocked just 27 minutes of action since his appointment, featuring as an unused substitute in three of the six matches.

Carrick said: I like Manu a lot, hes been terrific around the group with his attitude and how we go about it, his training qualities, hes got a lot of good attributes.

When the team is winning, there is a big upside to that.

For one or two boys who havent played as much, it makes it a little bit tougher to get in the team, but everyone is pushing each other.

"Many are desperate to get on the pitch a bit more. There are times when we might need to change things, and hes a big part of that.
